Fellows of the Adenauer Young Leaders Program, currently in Puerto Princesa for a week-long learning visit, paid a courtesy call on Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron last March 19, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation was led by Daniela Braun, Country Director of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Philippines, who introduced the group and highlighted their mission to promote democracy, good governance, and inclusive economic development. The visit was facilitated by the City Youth Development Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, Mayor Bayron shared his vision for the continued growth of Puerto Princesa’s tourism sector anchored on eco-tourism, sports tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and cruise tourism, while ensuring sustainability and long-term benefits for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Puerto Princesa is naturally beautiful. If we are to compare it to a lady, there is no need to put make-up on her,” Mayor Bayron remarked, underscoring the city’s commitment to preserving its natural assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to questions on innovation, the Mayor highlighted the development of the Balayong People’s Park, where more than a thousand balayong trees were planted by Puerto Princesans in 2017. Today, the park serves as a vibrant third space for families and a scenic attraction for visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Bayron also presented photos of the Palawan cherry blossoms, locally known as balayong, which wowed the delegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also present during the meeting were Romblon Governor Trina Firmalo-Fabic and Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte Mayor Alfredo Coro II, who are in the city as resource speakers for Batch 3 Third Module of the program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
