Headed by Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron inaugurated the new 3-storey, 9-classroom school building at Valentin Macasaet Memorial Elementary School in Barangay Irawan on July 7, as a proof of his administration’s continued prioritizing the education and welfare of the Puerto Princesan youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Costing ₱38,485,533.39, the building is the City Government’s first solar-powered school building. In addition, it is also a typhoon-resilient facility designed to serve as a safe learning area and temporary evacuation center in times of disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is a typhoon-resilient building. It’s built to be stormproof. If a disaster is coming and our countrymen are homeless, we can welcome them here. “That’s one of the goals of this building,” Mayor Bayron said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor also stressed that his administration continues to promote the three key pillars of the city’s development—good governance, quality health services, and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also urged young people to value the opportunity to study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Not everyone is given a chance to go to school. So while the opportunity is there, study hard because education is the key to a bright future. ”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to City Architect Honesto Teves, the building has a total floor area of 993 square meters, was built according to the Department of Education standards, and has a modern design that provides better ventilation, comfortable learning spaces, and a sturdy structure suitable for various living conditions. period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is the city’s first school building to have solar power as an alternative source of energy. We are happy that this project is prioritized for our students,” Teves said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Barangay Captain Rosana Araneta said that the new building is a big help to the continuous increase of students in their barangay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our students are increasing due to the development in the area. “It’s a very nice school building and it’s really a big help to our school,” said Araneta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this project, Mayor Bayron’s administration has reaffirmed its goal to provide safe, modern, and innovative facilities that will improve the quality of education and prepare the Puerto Princesan youth for a better future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
